Bedbugs are nocturnal parasites that feed on their host when they are sleeping or resting.  Their bites can cause red, itchy bumps. Infestations can happen quickly and are hard to control because they are good at staying hidden, reproduce quickly and can survive up to 12 months without feeding.  Many people think bedbugs are found in places that are inadequately cleaned but the truth behind these nighttime pests is they can thrive in any environment where humans reside.  Bedbugs are often picked up during travel and brought back to your home on clothes and luggage.
